According to latest research survey by the National Kitchen & Bath Association, transitional kitchens are currently the most popular style. Contemporary and traditional are the next popular with farmhouse and industrial newly emerging on this year’s survey. See below for our breakdown of some of the top kitchen and cabinet trends from the report:
LOOKING TO REFACE YOUR CABINETS?
Gray, White, & Off-White Cabinets
We’ve been telling you this for awhile now in our blogs, and now it’s backed up by research – gray, white, and off-white cabinets are hot. These neutral colors are the top cabinet colors so far this year. Another top trend seen in the survey was was wanting mixed cabinetry colors – for example, white cabinets with a gray island.
Storage Solutions – Pull-outs, Tilt-Outs, & Tilt-Ins
Storage solutions like pull-outs won’t ever go out of style, and designers expect to continue to see a continued increase in the use of these functional space saving solutions.
Granite & Quartz Countertops
Granite and quartz still top the list for the most popular countertop picks, though quartz continues to overtake granite in popularity. Both are durable and have many color options, but quartz tends to be a little easier to care for since it’s non-porous and never needs to be sealed, meaning very little maintenance required.
Built-In Coffee Stations & Wet Bars
Coffee/espresso stations and built-in coffee makers ranked very high on kitchen wish lists, as did wet bars. Even people with small kitchens listed wet bars high up on their lists.
Dedicated Pet Areas
Pet-friendly features were included in the kitchens of at least half of the survey respondents. The most popular pet accessories added were pull-out drawers for pet dishes and food storage, and built-in beds and crates.
Docking & Charging Stations
Plenty of outlets are a must, but recently, homeowners are wanting those hidden out of sight. More and more people are installing outlets and docking stations directly inside drawers and cabinets.
